On Sunday, October 18th 2015 Boneshaker Project hosted it’s first annual Moved to Taste fundraiser. In the spirit of our mission to get kids moving, this unique tasting experience for adults incorporated a twist: local chefs pair Boneshaker-inspired foods with surprise activities to encourage guests to ‘shake their bones. Founder and Chairman of the Board, Todd Reed, describes Moved to Taste as, “an event that raises important funds for our organization, while keeping true to the fun, movement-oriented spirit.”

The event took place at Pure Austin Speed Shop, a warehouse-like athletic space that creates a fun and sporty atmosphere. Guests enjoyed culinary and beverage tastings from St. Philip Pizza Parlor + Bakeshop, Olive & June, The Grove Wine Bar & Kitchen, Mettle – East Austin Bistro, Blenders and Bowls, Wink, korKitchen, Jaime’s Spanish Village, Hey Cupcake!, Whisler’s, Twisted X Brewing Company and Live Soda Kombucha. Each tasting table incorporated a “Boneshaker twist,” or an activity from a local athlete/gym/company. Participating groups included Dominion Golf Group, Richard Lord’s Gym, Kor180, and Gustavo Padron Yoga.

In addition to tastings and activities, guests participated in a large silent auction and enjoyed live music from Drew Davis and her band throughout the evening. The official after party took place across the street from the venue at Tacos and Tequila, where a reverse happy hour kept the party going. Event Chair Anne Barnard, says, “It was one of the most creative parties I’ve ever attended. Our goal was for guests to embrace new food and fitness experiences and take that energy with them into the community. I think we achieved that”

Fitness enthusiasts, philanthropists, local foodies and all who support BSP’s mission attended the fundraiser. Doug Coors, Founder of NLand Surf Park spoke about his passion for youth in the Austin Community. Moved to Taste raised over $14,000 which will go towards BSP initiatives that provide free activities for youth in Austin. This includes after-school bike and fitness programs in parks in East and South Austin, which target underserved communities.
