Boneshakers Who Run

Boneshaker Project has 150 students enrolled in our Run Clubs at 10 Middle and High Schools in Austin ISD and Round Rock ISD. Since the fall they have been training to run using drills and techniques that condition their bodies to be able to run 6.2 miles.

In February we held the inaugural Boneshaker Pace Bend 10K. Some Boneshakers ran while others volunteered at this optional race that was early in the training season.  The weather was beautiful and the rolling hills of Pace Bend Park were a great first-time challenge for our young runners.

The goal for this semester’s runners is to finish the Statesman Cap10K. 6.2 miles will be the farthest most of our students will have ever run, and some of them will be seeing downtown from a runner’s vantage point for the first time. Boneshaker will be providing transportation from the schools to the start line, along with brightly colored shirts and breakfast for all the kids. Look for the sea of Boneshaker Run Club tents at the Race Headquarters and come run with us!

After the Cap10K Boneshakers will also have the opportunity to run in the Sunshine Run in either the 5k or 10k on Sunday, May 7th in Downtown Austin. Boneshaker friends and family are invited to join us using code BONESHAKER2017 for 15% off registration. We are also excited to return to the  Spartan Race Saturday & Sunday May 20-21st at Reville Peak Ranch in Burnett. Boneshakers will participate in the mile with obstacles and challenges that test their grit!

These runs give our Boneshakers the opportunity to prove to themselves that they can achieve something they’ve never had the access or the training to achieve.
