Announcing Official Partnership with Olympian, Leo Manzano
As the Olympics end in Rio, Boneshaker Project is proud to announce our own local Olympian has officially joined us as a 2016 Ambassador. Leo Manzano is a two-time Olympic runner and 2012 Silver Medalist in the Men’s 1500 meters. Caring, inspirational, and genuine, Leo is an exemplarily role model for Boneshakers here in Central Texas. We are honored Leo has chosen our cause to support. Below is his statement on why he’s partnering with us, and what motivates him to give back to the community though Boneshaker Project.
“I am excited to be partnering with Boneshaker to inspire and motivate kids to be active.
Growing up, I was very fortunate to have found my passion for running and being outdoors at an early age. As a child, not having nor being able to afford the right running gear and not understanding that running was a sport until later in my teenage years, not once did I ever imagine that running would be my life! Now as a two time Olympian and Silver Medalist, I am most privileged to get to share my love for running with everyone, especially kids!
Many see exercise, more specifically running, as punishment. In today’s environment with low rates of physical activity and growing rates of obesity it is important that we correlate running with a healthy, active lifestyle by being outdoors, and of course having fun!
Boneshaker Project compasses everything that I wish I had growing up by providing: little to no cost programs, mentorship, family focused events, empowering kids to strive to feel physically strong from a young age, and an experience that will last a lifetime!
